About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transiting through PEK

My husband and I are from
Vancouver Canada visiting Seoul currently.

We have a return flight home booked via Beijing. Beijing to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Vancouver.

1) Can my husband qualify for the 72 hr free transit ?

I have a Chinese M class (business) (I had planned to attend the Canton Fair this October and was given a M class multiple entry visa by Chinese consulate in vancouver)
- due to timing purposes I will not attend the Canton Fair in October 2017 and will attend in April 2018.

2) Can I enter Beijing on my M class and stay for 72 hrs with my husband ? Or do I need to apply for the 72 hr free transit also upon landing ?

1) Yes, if your inbound and outbound flights are within the 72-hour limit.
2) You can use your visa to enter China if you have a multiple-entry one. If it is single-entry, however, then you must ask the officer to give you the 72-hour entry permit, otherwise you will utilize your visa and will need a new one for your next trip.

Thanks very much. One clarification:

- I am able to use my M class (granted for business) to enter Beijing for 72 hrs for the purposes of tourism (not business)? That will be ok?

That's fine. The immigration will treat you as if you are holding any other type of visa.
