About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

12 hour layover in Shanghai with one canadian and one ecuadorian

are we both going to be allowed to leave the airport for a bit? the Ecuadorian has a multiple transit G from the USA and Canada.. sometimes that helps but I don't see Ecuador on the list.

You would have no problem getting the visa-free transit, and your friend is exempt from visa requirement for stays less than 30 days as an Ecuadorian citizen.
