About:Changbai Mountain

Getting to Changbaishan from Beijing

Hi,
1)How do we go by train/bus. When is the earliest train available as i will be touching down beijing at 4am.
2)Can we stay in the mountain itself?
3)Will travelling in November be advisable? I don't mind the chills but are the road conditions accessible by vehicles?
Thanks in advance!! :)

You are suggested to take a bullet train to Dunhua, which leaves at 6:39 from Beijing Railway Station, and it takes about 9 hours, CNY433.5 for a first class seat, CNY333.5 for a second one.
After that, you can take a taxi to local Bus Station, from where you can take a bus to Erdao Baihe, which takes about 2h 30 minutes and CNY36.
Then you can hire a local car to the mountain, it may cost CNY30 for each to North Slope, CNY80 for each to West Slope.

If you want to visit the mountain only, you can buy the ticket of West & North Slope.

Actually, Nov. is not the best time there. But you can enjoy the special winter scenery. Don’t worry about the road conditions, it’s safe.

Hi Leila,

Thanks a lot for your reply. As i check on google the bullet train is not in service yet until somewhere in year 2020. Would you be able to comment on it? The normal train takes more than 24 hours to Dunhuang. Any other options? Really appreciate.

No, the bullet train is available now but there is only one train, so you may need to book it in advance.
If you can’t catch it, you can also take a flight to Changbaishan, which leaves at 7:45am from Capital Airport.
