About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I’m flying from Bishkek to Ürümqi and then on Chengdu and then LA. Can do the 72 hour visa in Irumqi

I’m trying to fly around the world and I have all the tickets except I don’t have a Chinese entry permit. I want to go to Ürümqi for like 16 hours and then Chengdu for 10. Does anyone know if I can do this without being detained?

You need a Chinese visa for that. Special provisions apply to Urumqi, where you are permitted to stay in transit for a maximum of 2 hours. You may then proceed to other transit points in China, for a maximum total stay in China of 24 hours (scheduled arrival at first port of entry, to final departure).
