About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Visa application in a foreign country

Hello,

I'm a Dutch traveller and I'm currently in Kuala Lumpur and I wanted to apply for a Chinese entry permit here, but they told me both at the application center and the embassy that because of changed rules it is not possible to apply for a Chinese entry permit in a foreign country and you can only apply in your own country. Is that true? And does it mean I can not travel to China except if I go back to Holland? Thank you in advance.

Hi, Thomas, as I know, it's rather difficult for you to get a Chinese visa in Kuala Lumpur if you don't have residence permit there. You can try to contact a travel agency to see if it can help you make the application from other countries. Good luck!

Thank you Ellen! I will ask around if it's possible in Thailand and if still not possible will spend my money somewhere else, if they make it so difficult... :)

Just read on the website of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand that it's also NOT possible to get a Chinese visa in Thailand if you are just a tourist and don't have a official legal stay or residency. So if they don't want my money I rather spend it somewhere else :)
