Visa for Shanghai, China

I am a US citizen taking a Celebrity Cruise originating in Tokyo. Japan and ending in SH. China where I will be for 2 days before departing for the United States - my question is do I need a Chinese visa for those two days? I know there is a 72 hour no visa policy for air travel but I don't know if there is one for cruise travel.

You don’t need a visa, but 72-hour free stay is not available for cruise trip. 144-hour free stay policy can be used in your case.
