About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for 72-hour visa-free on return flight? USA -> Myanmar/Burma -> Beijing -> USA?

I am an American citizen with American passport, traveling from Myanmar (Burma)? So I am coming from a different country than I am heading to, but I am heading to my home country.

Yes, as long as its country A > Mainland China > country C. Technically you can have 2, USA - Beijing- Myanmar and another on the way back Myanmar - Beijing - USA.
