About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong to Shenzhen, can I qualify for the 144h free transit?

Hello,

I am traveling to Hong Kong Oct 13 - 16 for the HK Electronics Fair. I would like to visit Shenzhen Oct 17, 18, and 19 to see that city as well. If I take a train from HK to Shenzhen, can I qualify for the 144h visa?

No, you cannot use the 144 hr free transit in Shenzhen. You are advised to apply for a visa for that beforehand.

Shenzhen VOAs can only be obtained at Luohu and Huanggang, not at other border crossings. The cost is CNY 900.

Thank you John Doe. Are you sure they are available for US citizens? I have read they are not available for US citizens in some websites.
