About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Australia to Shanghai (but via Singapore) and exit to Singapore

I have one itinerary from Australia (country A) to Shanghai but it goes via Singapore. On my way back I go to country B Singapore. Is this possible or would they consider that country A is also Singapore just because I had to land there?

Singapore-Shanghai-Singapore isn't a transit so you either need a visa or you need to change your itinerary.
