About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I still use the 72 hour free transit?

I am flying to Seoul from SFO and a layover for 15 hrs in Shanghai. Landing in Pudong Airport and flying to Seoul from Hongqiao Airport. I called the airline customer service and they said I can't get the transfer ticket from to Seoul till I get to Hongqiao Airport. She said I can show the ticket confirmation to apply for the 144 hr free transit. Do I qualify? What should I do in this situation?

Mandy, you can apply for the 144 hr free transit in Shanghai. When you board the flight in USA, you need to inform the airlines that you want to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. Then you can go to the transit counter to apply for the 144 hour free transit at Shanghai airport. Don't worry!

I think you need the boarding pass to board the flight in USA. But the boarding pass to Seoul is not needed.
