About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit
Flying from Other than One's Home Country
I am an American living in Shanghai now and my work/residence permit will expire on 27 October. I will leave before this date for a tour of India. I would like to return to Shanghai to pick up things when done with the tour. My route would probably be Kolkata, India to Shanghai to Phoenix, AZ, USA. Would I be able to get the 144-hour free transit even though I would not be first departing from my home country (the USA)?
