About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Applying for a transit visa during my layover flight

My flight back to Chile is from Beijing.
If I'm traveling from Thailand to Beijing, but there is a layover in Chonqing, can I apply for the transit visa there? Pretty much its Phuket-Chongqing-Beijing.
Am I allowed to ask for a transit G in Chongqing (during my layover) but have a final stop in Beijing to stay for 72 hrs?
Thanks

You cannot enjoy 72 hr free transit in Beijing because the 72 hour policy only allows the traveler to transit in one Chinese city. You should apply for a transit G type in advance for that.
