About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

resident permit on X2 type

i am on short term course in china on x2 type but now i got admission in same university in phd program. whats the procedure of getting resident permit. do i have to go back to my country for again applying entry permit.

Dear, you cannot get the residence permit on an X2 type.
If you want to apply for a temporary residence permit, you should try to change your X2 type to X1 type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB first. If it works out, you don’t need to go back to your country.
