May I use a 144 hour Free Transit?

I am travelling from the USA, to Singapore. I will depart Singapore and arrive in Shanghai Pudong airport. I plan to stay a little less than 144 hours. I was planning to stay at a hotel in Shanghai for 3 nights, and then go to Suzhou to stay at a hotel for 3 nights. I will depart from Shanghai Pudong airport back to the USA before the 144 hour time limit has expired. May I use the 144 hour free transit period to complete this visit?
