I am booking 2 separate tickets to travel Portland, USA to Tokyo. 1) Portland to Beijing round trip flight via 1.5 hours layover in Vancouver, Canada 2) Beijing to Tokyo round trip direct flight. Beijing to Tokyo flight has less 24 hours gap while going and Beijing to Portland flight via Vancouver has less than 24 hours gap. Can I get free transit policy both the times at Beijing airport to visit the city ?Please let me know.Thanks in advance .

Sristi, do you mean you will travel like Portland-Vancouver-Beijing-Tokyo-Beijing-another country instead of Tokyo? If yes, you can enjoy 24 hr direct transit in BJ in both directions. Nice trip!

Thanks Tomas.My travel will be Portland->Vancouver-> Beijing-->Tokyo while returning Tokyo-->Beijing-->Vancouver--> Portland .My concern is, I don't have a direct ticket from Portland to Tokyo , I bought Portland to Beijing round trip and then Beijing to Tokyo round trip , still I can have free transit in BJ both times ?Thanks,Sristi

That doesn't matter. You'll need to show your onward tickets to an immigration officer when entering Beijing.
