About:China Customs Declaration

I have a flight from France to china onward to Japan do i still need to declare currency

I will be carrying more than 5000 euros, unfortunatly it is a connecting flight from France to China, China to Japan. I wont be staying in china except for a 3 hours layover so i was wondering if I would still need to declare it? If I do, does it get complicated what will they need?

As I know, if you just stay at airport in China for a 3 hours layover, you don't need to declare currency. Hope helpful!
