About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I get a 72 hour transit in advance?

I have an 8 hour layover in Beijing flying back to the US from Bangkok. I would like to use this time for a short tour. Can I get the 72 hour transit approval in advance of my trip?

In principle, you qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing, but as you just transit for 8 hours, you also enjoy the 24 hr direct in there, and you cannot apply for it before your trip, you can make the application when you arrive at the airport.
