About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

HKG > PVG (24 hour visit) > HKG (transit) to Berlin, Germany

Hello. I am a American in Hong Kong. I wanted to travel to Shanghai for 24 hours and then return via Hong Kong again enroute to Berlin, Germany. It is all on one single ticket. Is this allowed if Hong Kong is the return transit point?

If you will travel like HKG-PVG-HKG-Berlin, you need to apply for a single entry visa for Shanghai. If you travel like HKG-PVG-Berlin-HKG, you can enjoy free transit and no need to apply for one because you can enjoy free transit in mainland China.

Hi. HKG on the return is not a stopover, the passenger's ticket just has a 2 hours connection in HKG enroute to Berlin on the same ticket.

Doesn't matter. HKG-PVG-HKG is not transit under any circumstances.
