If you hold Australia passport, you can enjoy free entry to HK for a stay of not exceeding 90 days. You need to apply for a double-entry tourist L type for Shanghai. Or if you travel like Australia – Shanghai (144 hours)-HK-Shanghai (144 hours)-Australia, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai in both directions. No need to apply for a visa then.
