international transfer for 2 separately bought tickets

Hi. I bought a KUL - PEK ticket (with MH) and PEK - ULN (with MIAT) separately because flying from KUL - ULN is too costly. I have around 8 hrs wait time between those 2 flights. I know that I can't check my bags nor get boarding passes to ULN from KUL because i bought the tickets separately. My question is, is it possible to just check in at the transfer desk in PEK without clearing immigration then go back inside if I only have a carry on luggage? MIAT doesn't do online check in, so I do need to check in at a desk.
