About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Fly in to Guangzhou fly out Hong Kong. Is that possible on 72 hour free transit?

I would like to fly in to Guangzhou, travel within province for 2 days, then take ferry to Hong Kong and depart from Hong Kong airport.

That's a big no-no. You can only arrive and depart via Guangzhou airport if your total time spent in China is longer than 24 hours.
