About:index

US citizen coming into Shanghai on a cruise which begins in Tokyo. Can I use free transit exemption?

I will be leaving 2 days later back to US. I have a Chinese invitation letter. I have tour group hotel and return tickets to US with name and seat assignments

Yes, your case suits the 144h visa-free transit. After disembarking the cruise, do apply for a stay permit from the immigration.
