Is it possible to get a visa that lasts longer then 3 months?

I am traveling and will not be able to apply for a entry permit from my own country as I would like to arrive in China 5 months after I have left my own country.

Thomas, UK passport holders can apply for 2-year multiple-entry visa which costs the same as the 3-month single-entry one.
