We are US citizens flying from the US to Shanghai. We stay 2 days in Shanghai and leave by cruise

We are US citizens flying from the US to Shanghai. We stay 2 days in Shanghai and leave by cruise ship to Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore. We leave Singapore and return to the Unites States. Do we need a visa to enter Shanghai?

No visa is needed for your case, because you are eligible for 144h visa-free transit. Do fill in the "Embarkation/Disembarkation Card" before landing, and apply for a stay permit at the immigration counter when getting to Shanghai.
