About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Need Help! Do we qualify for the 144 free transit?

Hi, we are planning to visit Shanghai next month, we have US Passport but will be leaving from Philippines to Shanghai then Shanghai connecting to Shenzhen then to Philippines. Do we qualify for the 144 free transit? Where only going to Shanghai for 2 days. I am really trying not to pay additional for the entry permit. Does anybody have any suggestion?

You can't have 72 or 144 hours free transit if you have two stops in China. And you can't have free transit in Shenzhen. Philippines-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Philippines would work.

I originally purchase a plane ticket manila-shanghai, then shanghai to manila. Will it be a problem if I dont use the shanghai to manila and purchase another ticket from Shanghai to hong kong then hongkong to manila?
