About:China Work Visa

Applying for a Work Permit in the UK but obtain the actual Visa in a different country?

My son is applying for a Work Permit now in the UK but would like to visit us in Tokyo before starting his job in China. Could he obtain the work permit confirmation in the UK but then apply for the work Z type in his passport at the PRC embassy in a different country (i.e. here in Japan.)?

No, he is not advised to do that. He had better apply for the work Z type in UK because temporary visitors in Japan are usually advised to make the application in their home countries.
