About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is the counter open 24 hours?

I have a 20 hours layover in Beijing on my flight back to the US. The plane will land at 12:45 am. Will the counter still be open to get the 72 hour free transit?

It is not, although in case the dedicated counter is closed, you can still get it at a regular counter, which will operate as long as there's international flights.
