About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Itinerary Question

So if my plane ticket is a multi destination ticket that goes as follows:
Okinawa Japan to Shanghai (Friday)
Shanghai to Taiwan (Sunday)

And then purchase another one way back to Okinawa a few hours after arriving to Taiwan, would that be sufficient for the 144hr rule?

Japan-Shanghai-Taiwan is a compliant itinerary for Chinese immigration. All other flights are irrelevant.
