About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am in transit between flights at Shanghai Pudong for 10 hours

and as I am understanding it I do not need to obtain a 72h visa free entry if I am to stay within the transit areas of the airport.
Am I correct?

Correct. If you stay longer than 3 days you will turn into a pumpkin. 10 hrs, you will be fine.
