About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

I have a UK passport and travelling to Shanghai

Will be staying in Shanghai overnight and then boarding a cruise to go to Japan - so my stay in Shanghai will be less then 24 hours. - do I need a visa?

Kishor, no, you don’t need it. You can use the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai.

Thank you Ronald. This is helpful and will save lot of money but I am worried if the airline refuses me to board the plane without visa. Do I need to inform them?
