Traveling to Seoul through Beijing

Hello I'm a us citizen also hold and ecuador passport I will be traveling jfk-Beijing-Seoul on the way back is Seoul-Beijing-jfk I plan on staying for a day in beijing do I need a entry permit

On an Ecuador passport you can transit for 24 hours in Beijing in both directions without a visa.
