About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen in Korea wanting to travel to Hong Kong through Beijing

Hello, can I use the 72-hr travel pass if my transit city is Beijing and my final destination is Hong Kong? (And if not Hong Kong, because is China, how about Thailand?) Thanks.
