Since it is the peak season for travelling in Yunnan, you are advised to book the train tickets in advance. You can buy the ticket on the website of TravelChinaGuide, and they can send the ticket to your hotel in Kunming. Besides, you can also collect the ticket at the ticket office of the railway station.
