About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Airline Crew Standby Ticket

Hi I want to fly in from AMS to PVG - stay 3 days and then transfer out to BKK. Since I am airline crew I fly out on standby basis, this means that even though the date is confirmed (and within the 144 hour window) there may not be a free seat available at check in. Can I still make use of Visa Free Transit or will I get into trouble when seeking entry to China?

You will definitely get into trouble as the TWOV is for pax with confirmed tickets. The immigration will check if you have a compliant ticket from your ticket number. If discovered, they will send you on the next flight home, or force you to purchase a new ticket.
