About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

NZ-BEIJING-HONG KONG-NZ

I am flying from Auckland, New Zealand to Beijing with a 4 hour stopover in Hong Kong, flying out of Beijing in less than 72 hours to Hong Kong for a few days before flying home again. Do I qualify for the 72 hr free transit? From my understanding I am eligible for the 72 hr free transit because I am flying from Beijing to a 3rd country (Hong Kong) before flying back to NZ, or does my 4hr stopover in HK on my flight from NZ-Beijing prevent me from being eligible?

Hi, you are eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing. Don't worry!

You are flying HKG-PEK-HKG which is not a transit, so you must apply for a visa in advance. You cannot use the 72 hour free transit.
