Visa needed for a 17 hour lay over in Hong Kong?

I have a 17 hour lay over in Hongkong. As far as I can see, South Africans get 30 days free entry within the country. Is this correct?

Is there any payment upon entry?

You can enjoy 30-day free entry to HK, no need to apply for a visa then. There is no payment upon entry.
