About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

extra technical stop

Hi
I am travelling Melbourne to Rome with a stop over in Guangzhou

The second flight from Guangzhou to Rome has a 2hr technical stop at wuhan. I have no intention to exit the airport (I actually thought I was buying a direct flight) does this technical stop at wuhan effect my ability to get the 72hr visa ?

Hi, you cannot get the 72hr free transit in mainland China because of your layover in Wuhan. But if your total layover time in Chins is less than 24 hours, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit then.

As above, you are only eligible for 24 hour direct transit, but note that nationals of Canada and USA are not permitted to use the multiple-stop transit within China if transiting through Wuhan.
