About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US citizen traveling from Chicago to Shanghai to board a RCCL Cruise. Possibly needing a overnight

stay in Shanghai before entering cruise ship. Cruise then makes a short stop in Japan and will make a short stop in Hong Kong and Vietnam (cruise ports) for a total of 9 nights and arrives on day 10 in Singapore, at which point will return back to USA. I was told that the 144 or 72 hr free transit rule may apply. Please advise. Thank you for your assistance

Yes, Linda, 144 hour free transit can cover your trip, you don't need to apply for a visa for that. Have a nice trip!
