q2 type to change to a temporary residence permit

Question

I'm in possession of a Q2 one year multiple entry, and at present in China staying with my wife. Will it be possible to obtain a Temporary Residence Permit which I believe is a 5 year visa, at our local Public Security Bureau.The reason I want to chance is to avoid exit and enter China every 90 days.

David, I'm afraid you cannot get the residence permit by holding the Q2 type. But you can try to convert your Q2 into Q1 type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can be done, you can apply for the residence permit then.
