About:China Transit Visa

I'm a U.S. citizen, but want to travel to Beijing while in Singapore,

would I need a Visa if I do Singapore to Beijing-Taipei or Singapore-Beijing-HongKong?

Hi, if your total layover time in Beijing is not more than 72 hours, and you enter and exit there by air, you are eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing, no need to apply for a visa then.
