About:China Transit Visa

I'm traveling from India to the US with 2 layovers in China, do I need a transit visa?

I'm traveling from India to the US on China Eastern Airline with layovers in Kunming and Shanghai, two hours each. Traveling on a US passport. Do I need a transit G type? Or does this qualify for the 24-hour TWOV exemption?

Hi, 24-hour TWOV exemption will cover your trip, no transit G type is needed for that. Have a nice trip!

Thanks for your reply. Another source told me that because the second leg of the trip was between two Chinese airports, this would be a "domestic flight" rather than international, and therefore wouldn't qualify for 24 hour TWOV. Have you heard of anyone having trouble with this? The SF embassy visa office will not respond to queries.

Based on what I know, one can have multiple stops in China when speaking of the 24 hour direct transit.
