About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

I will be landing in Shanghai on 30th August and boarding the liner on 1st September in Shanghai.

That means I will be in Shanghai 30th, 31st August and part of the day on the 1st September. Do I need a visa or can I ask for a Transit Visa Exemption? I am having conflicting answers and would appreciate a definitive answer. Many Thanks

Madge, if you will go to a third country or region different from the last one you come from after transiting in Shanghai, you don't need a visa because you are eligible for the free transit there.
