About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I have told British airways who I am flying with to Beijing about the 72 hour transit visa

and they blankly refused to know anything about it anything I do ? I feel like I'm being sent on a mad goose chase is there anyway I can contact in Heathrow so they are aware of my travel plans?

The airline is not responsible for answering visa-related questions as these are the stuff you must figure out yourself. Their only job is to do the document check when you check-in at the airport. There's no need to talk to anyone at LHR in advance, since the check-in agent will verify your information in the system.
