About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Should I fly into Hong Kong or Guangzhou for 72 hour transit

Hello, My daughter doesn't have a China Visa (I do). Would she qualify for a 72 hour free transit with one of these itineraries?

1. Fly from Seattle, USA direct to Hong Kong airport: arrive July 10th
Drive across the boarder to China and stay in Guangzhou hotel (under 72 hours)
Drive back to Hong Kong on July 12th
Fly from Hong Kong airport on July 16th

Or

2. Fly from Seattle USA, 2hr layover Beijing, on to Guangzhou airport: arrive July 10th
Stay at hotel in Guangzhou (under 72 hours)
Drive to Hong Kong on July 12
Fly out of Hong Kong on July 16

Evan, both the first travel itinerary and the second one are not eligible for the 72 hour free transit because the first one is not a transit at all and the second one has two stops in China. She needs to apply for a transit G type in advance.
