Do i need to have a confirmed hotel

Hi we are from Thailand and plan to get our visa from the Phuket Consulate. Do i need to book all my hotels to show where i am staying. Actually we plan to visit for 10 days but we are going free and easy. If we like a certain town we would like to spent more time there. But i understand that i need to show my full itenery of hotels that we will stay for the full duration. Its very difficult for us. We are a small family with 3 kids.
