About:China Transit Visa

Hello, I am Indonesian passport holder.

I will be traveling from Frankfurt to Hiroshima by China Eastern with 10 hrs transit in Shanghai and my return flight from Hiroshima to Frankfurt has 13 hrs transit in Shanghai as well. Do I need to apply for a visa in advance? Or can I just use 24 hour direct transit for each time? From some questions and answers above, what I understand is, if I am eligible for 24 hour direct transit for each time, I can leave the airport as long as I apply for a temporary stay permit in the airport, am I correct? If yes, where in the airport can I apply for such a temporary stay permit? Thank you.

Hi, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai in both directions. You can apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to explore the city.
