About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Does Indonesian passport holder need China visa flying from Vancouver to Indonesia (via Xiamen)?

Hi, I and my husband are Indonesian and we live in Canada as Permanent Resident. We're gonna fly from Vancouver to Indonesia (Jakarta) with Xiamen airlines (transit in Xiamen) since it's quite affordable airfare for us. Does anyone have experience flying with Xiamen airlines before ? and do we need visa for transit ? As far as I know transit in China we don't need entry permit. But I have quite odd experience flying from Indonesia to Vancouver, when I bought Xiamen ticket, the ticket officer informed me that I need Chinese entry permit in order to fly and again in the check in counter the officer ensured my China entry permit before I flew. So, everything seems confusing. In the Xiamen airlines webiste says we don't need entry permit for transit but Xiamen ticket officers in Indonesia required it and I tried to call Xiamen ticket officers in Vancouver and they don't know anything about it. please help. thanks before

Hi, if your total layover time in Xiamen is within 24 hours, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit. No visa is required.

Back in 2016 there have been reports regarding that matter and it seems like Indonesians, Thais and Malaysians are affected. Try calling the Xiamen immigration office to double check.
