do i need flighttrains already booked to apply?

Hi,I am travrlling to Astana and planning to travel by train to Urumqi and then going acrooss chona until kunming. I dont have the transport arranged yet but I have a travel itinerary.rhw liat of documents does not say I need it. Is it ok to aply for a VISA without those documents or they will ask for it? Thanks
