About:Chinese Consulate in Christchurch

We are travelling to Shanghai for a business meeting on the 19th July.

We arrive at 7.30am and depart again at 10.30pm the same day. NZ passports.
Can you please confirm that we will not require a visa.
Thank you.

Quintin, if your travel route is country A-Shanghai (24 hours)-country B, you can use the 24 hour direct transit. No visa will be needed then.

Thank you Neil. So we are arriving from NZ for a business meeting and returning to NZ after. Will the 24hr transit rule apply?
Do i need to do anything to adopt the 24hr transit exemption or is our confirmed travel bookings enough?

No, it doesn't apply if you travel like New Zealand-Shanghai-New Zealand because it's not a transit at all. Usually, you just need to provide valid passport and air tickets if you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit.
