About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Must entry and exit both be via airport?

Is the visa applicable if entry is by airport and exit is by train? I.e. Seattle to Guangzhou via plane and Guangzhou to Hong Kong via bus.

No, you won’t be eligible for the 72 hour free transit program in Guangzhou if you travel like that. The 72 hour policy requires that the passengers travel by flight all the way.
